                                                    Overview of the Silk Road
Throughout history, Eurasia was crisscrossed by communication routes and paths of trade(across land and sea), leading to the exchanging of goods, skills and ideas. This was an interconnected web of routes that linked the ancient societies of East, South, Central and Western Asia, which we now know as the ‘Silk Road’.

This exchange of technologies, ideas, and culture is also reflected in the diverse and rich documentary heritage of the Silk Road, that we aim to preserve and share with future generations.
                                                    Objective of the survey
The objective of the survey is to identify collections of significance relating to the Silk Road, that can become part of a national, international or regional Memory of the World nomination, including the potential for a joint nomination.

In addition, this survey will help identify areas of commonality that could form the basis of wider cooperation projects, such as digital archives/platforms, academic research, preservation initiatives etc.
