It is our intent that in 2021, the Georgia 4-H Camping Program will operate at Georgia's five 4-H facilities -- Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island, Camp Jekyll, Fortson 4-H Center, Rock Eagle 4-H Center, and Wahsega 4-H Center.  Of course, much depends on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic at that time.

AGAIN THIS YEAR, TO COMPLY WITH UGA STUDENT WORKER GUIDELINES, ALL COUNSELORS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ENROLLED AS A STUDENT IN BOTH THE SEMESTER BEFORE AND AFTER THE SUMMER THEY SERVE AS A COUNSELOR.  THE STUDENT WORKER ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENT IS SATISFIED BY ENROLLMENT IN HIGH SCHOOL OR AT LEAST HALF TIME ENROLLMENT AT ANY INSTITUTE OF HIGHER EDUCATION (IN STATE, OUT-OF-STATE, TECHNICAL COLLEGE OR SCHOOL, PRIVATE SCHOOL, USG INSTITUTION, UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE SCHOOL).

DO NOT COMPLETE THIS APPLICATION IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO BE ENROLLED AS A STUDENT DURING THE 2021 SPRING AND FALL SEMESTERS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.  PROOF OF ENROLLMENT MAY BE REQUIRED BEFORE YOU ARE HIRED AS A COUNSELOR.

If selected as a counselor, those applicants assigned to a waterfront position, including all small camp counselors, will be required to possess or obtain American Red Cross lifeguard certification before the camping season begins.

Counselor training is very important to the success of the camping season.  You will be expected to participate in two counselor training weekends if selected to be a counselor.  Those weekends include:

February 26-28, 2021     All Counselor Training     Rock Eagle 4-H Center

And one of the following weekends, depending on your Center assignment:
March 19-21, 2021        Rock Eagle Training      Rock Eagle 4-H Center
March 26-28, 2021        Fortson Training            Fortson 4-H Center
March 26-28, 2021        Wahsega Training          Wahsega 4-H Center
April 9-11, 2021             Burton Training              Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island
April 9-11, 2021             Jekyll Training                Camp Jekyll

Please consider these training dates when applying for counselor employment.  YOU SHOULD NOT APPLY TO BE A COUNSELOR IF YOU EXPECT TO MISS BOTH OF THE SPRING TRAINING WEEKENDS.
