CRITERIA FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The following criteria are used by the BYB Board of Directors to assess all applicants for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). This assistance is good for an entire year including summer programs as long as the applicant is keeping their volunteer hours. Yearly registration fee, as well as all Performance Fees including DVD's and Tshirt orders are NOT included in the TAP Scholarship.  Once the Board approves this application, the office will contact you with more details. All applicants will need to attend a mandatory meeting prior to the beginning of the year.

Financial need – The BYB board determines need by evaluating a family’s ability to contribute against the total cost of attendance. Eligibility is determined through a review of a family’s federal income tax information. A family must demonstrate that its resources are insufficient to cover the total or partial cost of tuition. Exceptional circumstances not readily ascertainable from tax documentation should be explained on the application form. The federal poverty level guidelines are used by the Board as an indicator of a family’s financial need. The guidelines are used with a multiplier to determine the percentage of work-study tuition granted. All this information is for the exclusive use of the committee and will not be shared with anyone.

Evaluation – Past fulfillment of TAP is considered, in addition to, a student’s attendance and compliance with BYB’s rules and policies.

Commitment – A student who attends consistently and shows interest is given priority over one doesn’t seem as invested.

Aptitude - A student exhibits potential and/or natural ability.

Recommendation - BYB staff or others may recommend a student.
