DataFest Tbilisi and the Alliance of Democracies Foundation invite you to participate in the DemTech Hackathon, which will take place before and during DataFest Tbilisi 2023, on 9-11 November, in Tbilisi, at Pullman Tbilisi.
ABOUT THE HACKATHON
When you join our DemTech Hackathons, you join a community of democracy defenders, freedom loving activists, and entrepreneurs that embrace collaboration and innovation across borders, sectors, and cultures. Our community shares the desire to defend freedom and democracy while advancing business and tech.
We are inviting out-of-the-box thinkers with a background in technology, business, startups, policy, and democracy activism to innovate new solutions that will make tech work for democracy. All ages, and skill levels are welcome.
THEME
This year's hackathon participants are expected to develop solutions around Media, Civic Engagement and Information Integrity. It includes creation of tools that amplify citizen engagement with the election process through interactive media platforms, voter education resources, and digital participation mechanisms, as well as, innovative channels for news distribution, monetization, and combating disinformation and misinformation during election periods.
A limited number of selected applicants will be invited to attend the festival for free, participate in workshops, get mentorship from the tech and democracy pioneers and enthusiasts, finalize their projects, and pitch in front of the jury at the closing session of the festival.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Anyone from Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, or Ukraine who has an idea on how to use technology to enhance democracy in the region. You can either sign up as a team or as an individual, then we will do our best to match you with other participants!
WHY PARTICIPATE
The winning team will automatically be admitted to the Democracy Tech Entrepreneur Fellowship and be invited to pitch their solution at the next Copenhagen Democracy Summit in May, 2024.
