Embodying Legacy
Presented by Moving Spirits Inc., Embodying Legacy is an artistic and educational program celebrating the rich traditions of dance, music, and cultural heritage within the African diaspora. Held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Tuckaseegee Recreation Center, this program invites participants of all abilities, address 8+ to engage in an immersive dance cultural experience.

Each session focuses on a different aspect of African diaspora traditions, blending historical and cultural insights with movement and music practices. Participants will explore dance forms such as vintage jazz, Samba, Orisha dances, and Afro-Brazilian traditions while learning their historical significance and modern evolution. Guided by experienced artists and facilitators, the program fosters a sense of community, cultural pride, and personal connection through the arts.

Sessions include a welcome, community check-in, short warm-up, movement practice, choreography, and reflective discussions. Embodying Legacy is designed to honor and preserve the stories of resilience, identity, and heritage that have shaped these artistic expressions.

This inclusive program is an opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate the enduring legacies of African and African-descendant communities. Whether you're an experienced dancer or new to movement, Embodying Legacy offers a space to explore and honor cultural heritage through the universal language of dance and music.

Join us for this meaningful journey every Wednesday evening at the Tuckaseegee Recreation Center!
