“나는 계속해서 도둑에 매료되었습니다. 우리가 자라면서 전설이나 민담에서 들어 온 그런 도둑이 아닙니다. 범죄로 법에 저촉되는 도둑도, 미디어에서 선정적으로 다뤄지거나 묘사되는 도둑도 아닙니다. 나는 온순한 도둑에게 관심이 있습니다. 그들은 잔잔하고 미묘하며 조용합니다. 나는 섬세하게 활동하는 도둑에게 관심이 있습니다. 갈등을 일으키지는 않을 정도의 섬세함 말입니다. 그러나 윤리와 도덕의 영역에서는 의심을 불러일으킬 만한 정도의 섬세함 입니다. 그들의 절도 행위로 인해 감옥에 갈 일은 없을, 그런 도둑들에게 관심이 있습니다. 그러나 아마도 다른 형태의 투옥을 초래할 만한 절도 행위를 하는 도둑들이겠지요. 이러한 이야기들은 나를 매료시킵니다.

작가 소개
크리스 로(1976년생)는 그래픽 디자이너이자 아티스트다. 시애틀에서 태어난 크리스 로는 UC버클리에서 건축을, 로드아일랜드 스쿨 오브 디자인(RISD)에서 그래픽 디자인을 공부했다. 이후 샌프란시스코, 함부르크, 베를린과 뉴욕에서 활동하다 현재 홍익대학교 시각디자인학과 교수로 서울에 거주하며 작업하고 있다. 한국에 온 후 서울대학교에서 한국의 공간 개념을 탐구하는 그래픽 연구로 박사 학위를 받았다. 건축가이자 그래픽 디자이너로서의 혼성된 경험은 2차원과 3차원을 오가며 탐색하는 그의 작업에 지속적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 특히, 그의 작품은 움직이고, 공간을 활용하며, 시적이고 분위기를 자아내는 특성을 지니는데, 다른 차원에서의 움직임, 공간의 개념, 그리고 이러한 다른 차원의 움직임과 공간이 평면이라는 보다 정적인 표면과 어떠한 관계를 갖는지를 탐구한다. 그의 작품은 빅토리아 앤 알버트 미술관(V&A Museum), 파리 장식 미술관(Musée des Arts Décoratifs), 뮌헨 국제디자인박물관(Die Neue Sammlung) 그리고 국립한글박물관, 한국수자원공사, 플랫폼 L, 서울대학교미술관에 영구소장 되었으며 전시되고 있다. 그는 현재 AGI(Alliance Graphique Internationale)멤버이다.

“I continue to be fascinated by thieves. Not the thieves we grew up with in stories, legends and folklore. Not the thieves that could be criminally or legally implicated for their crimes. Nor the thieves that have been sensationalized or portrayed in the media. I am interested in the thieves whose forms of thievery are gentle. Gentle, subtle, quiet. I am interested in thieves whose actions are delicate. Delicate enough to create no conflict. But perhaps just delicate enough to question ethics and morals. I am interested in thieves whose thievery may never necessarily lead them to jail. But thieves whose actions just might create other forms of imprisonment. These stories fascinate me.

Chris Ro
Chris Ro(b.1976) is a designer and graphic artist. His work can be characterized for their kinetic, spatial, poetic and atmospheric properties. Born in Seattle, Chris went on to study architecture at the University of California at Berkeley. After working as both architect and designer he went on to study graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design. This mixed background continues to influence his explorations that fluctuate between both two and three dimensions. He is often at home when exploring concepts in motion and space and their relationship to the more static surfaces of graphic design. He recently finished research exploring concepts in Korean space at Seoul National University. His work has been exhibited all over the world and is part of the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Die Neue Sammlung and the National Hangeul Museum.

안성은, 비평 안성은은 동시대 예술과 기술의 발전에 따른 매체변화를 연구하고 이에 관한 전시를 기획한다. 아트센터 나비(15-17′)에서 《아직도 인간이 필요한 이유: AI와 휴머니티》(2016), 《리얼픽션》(2017), 《네오토피아: 데이터와 휴머니티》(2017) 등의 프로젝트와 미디어 파사드 연례전시를 기획했다. 현재 성북구립미술관 학예연구사로서 성북어린이미술관 꿈자람 개관에 이어 성북예술창작터 리브랜딩을 진행했으며 지역을 기반으로 한 다양한 예술실천을 모색해오고 있다. 《피치피치파티》(2018), 《다다팩토리》(2019), 《Playing the Future》(2019), 《시간동사모음》(2020), 《환경설정》(2020), 《스케일, 스캐닝》(2020), 《목소리의 극장》(2021), 《구름 그림자》(2021) 등 다수의 프로젝트를 기획했다.

김연임, 낭독 보이지 않지만 존재하는, 사라지거나 사라질, 아슬아슬한 경계에 존재하는 것들에 관심이 있다. 읽고, 쓰고, 듣고, 말하기와, 편집하고, 만들고, 통찰하기를 주로 한다. 주로 문화예술분야에서 다양한 이름으로  활동했으며, LIG문화재단의 계간지 <interVIEW>와 서울무용센터에서 발행하는 웹진 <춤:in>의 편집장을 거쳤다. 

정재경, 진행 도시 일상 속 윤리적으로 옳고, 그름을 명백하게 판단 내리기 어려운 지점을 추적하고, 이를 무빙 이미지와 아카이브 형식 안에서 탐구하는 데 관심을 가지고 있다. 최근 《코스모그라피아》 (서울로미디어캔버스, 2019), 《어느 장면》 (신촌극장, 2021),  《코메디아》 (shhh, 2022) 개인전과 《미술원, 우리와 우리 사이》(국립현대미술관 청주, 2021), 《경계와 신호》(서울시립 남서울미술관, 2021), 《제8회 아키펠 자카르타 다큐멘터리 & 실험영화제》 (자카르타, 인도네시아, 2021)등의 단체전에 참여했다. 쉬(shhh)를 설립하고 시간 예술 중심의 전시, 토크, 출판 프로그램을 기획하고 있다. 현재 2023년 베니스 비엔날레 국제건축전 한국관 전시참여작가로 프로젝트에 참여 중이다. 작품은 국립현대미술관, MMCA 정부미술은행, 서울시립 서서울미술관 (개관예정) 등에 소장되어 있다.

SeongEun An, Art Critic SeongEun An studies the changes in media during the technological development of contemporary art, and curates exhibitions and projects regarding the topic. She researched and curated multiple projects and media façade exhibitions at Art Center NABI (15-17’), including 《Why Future Still Needs Us: AI&Humanity》(2016), 《Real Fiction》(2017), 《Neotopia: Data&Humanity》(2017). Currently as the curator of Seongbuk Museum of Art (SMA), she seeks to bring various local art practices into life, by initiating projects such as the opening of Seongbuk Children’s Museum followed by Seongbuk Young Art Space (SBYAS) rebranding project. She has also curated 《Peach Pitch Party》(2018), 《DADA FACTORY》(2019), 《Playing the Future》(2019), 《TAP-Time based Art Project-Collection》(2020), 《Media, Configuration Setting》(2020), 《Scale, Scanning》(2020), 《Theater of Voices》(2021), 《Cloud Shadow》(2021), etc.

Yunim Lim, Reading Performer Yunim Lim is interested in things that are invisible or disappear, but exist on the unstable borderline. She enjoys reading, writing, listening, speaking, editing, creating, and thinking. Lim has been working in the various fields of culture and arts, including the editor-in-chief of <interVIEW>, a quarterly magazine of the LIG Cultural Foundation, and of <Dance: in>, a webzine published by the Seoul Dance Center among many.

Jaekyung Jung, Moderator Jaekyung Jung is interested in tracing ambivalence in the everyday life of the city, which stands between what is ethically right and wrong. His recent solo exhibitions include 《Cosmographia” (Seoullo Media Canvas, Seoul, 2019), 《A Scene》 (Sinchon Theater, Seoul, 2021), and 《Commedia》 (shhh, Seoul, 2022) Group exhibitions that he has recently participated in include 《Art(ificial) Garden, The Border Between Us》 (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, CheongJu, Korea, 2021), 《Signaling Perimeters》 (The Nam-Seoul Museum of Art , Seoul, Korea, 2021) among many. Jung founded “shhh,” an art space focusing on time based art research and exhibition based in Incheon, South Korea.His work is a part of the permanent collections of the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MMCA), MMCA Government Art Bank, and Seo-Seoul Museum of Art in South Korea. Currently, Jung is a participating artist in the Korean Pavilion of the 18th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition in 2023.
