Greed and hunger for power brought the scourge of Azazel to Earth, and the responsibility to undo the apocalypse he brought about fell in the laps of the Grim Reaper and her chosen host Victor Rexford. So much was sacrificed, hundreds of years lost to history as humans were nearly wiped from the planet and replaced with demons. At the end of it all, the slate was wiped clean and humanity was given a chance to start anew.

But now they have magic.

Something happened when the cycle of life and death was reset, giving humans the ability to harness magic as they hadn't done before. With these powers comes responsibility and consequences, and they breed even more greed to become more powerful spellcasters.

Theo Slater, born with seemingly little-to-no magical abilities, witnessed the horror of evil wrought by magic as his parents were brutally murdered as a child. He set himself on the path to become an investigator with enough resources to solve the mystery of their deaths at the hand of dark magic, and with the help of the Supernatural Investigation Agency he was one step closer to his purpose. Being assigned as a handler to the SIA's witch consultant was even one step closer.

But he had no idea just how the witch Dorianne Grey was truly woven into his past. Or how embedded she was into his future.

Life as a college student is hard. It’s even harder for Victor Rexford when a cult brings about the end of days via a botched summoning, and he happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fortunately—or maybe unfortunately—Victor catches the eye of the Grim Reaper during this particular ritual, becoming further embroiled in an epic fight between supernatural entities. She needs him as a host to remain on Earth to exorcise the demons, and he needs to grow a spine.

Over 100 years later, the world is an apocalyptic wasteland filled with humans possessed by demons and mutated into monstrous forms. Vincent, one of the few remaining mortal humans, is sent out by his father and camp leader to find others to" join his flock." Instead, Vincent sets his eyes to the north of their humble camp in old Pennsylvania, following an irresistible pull.

What is he searching for? Who is calling to him from every shadow? And why is she so… sad?

Vincent will find that Death is not always the end.
