If this strike is going to be successful, we need to know we will have a strong presence at our picket lines the whole time and everyone is going to need to take on a role of some sort. Striking means showing up at the picket, and this form is where you can sign up for specific picket shifts as well as for other roles we need filled. PLEASE sign up for as much as you feel comfortable with. Taking on multiple roles is great!

Strike Roles for Lecturers (you can choose several) Training Saturday 10-1100 and Monday 12-100 for picket captains, police liasons and other picket support, from 11-11:30 Saturday and 1-1:30 Monday for press contact. Picket Co-Captain (Picket Captains are the people responsible for making sure our picket is safe and effective and that people performing their roles. Ideally we would have at least 2 on the line at all times to share responsibility and collaborate

I can work the Sign-in table (sign-in members and supporters, distribute shirts and info flyers etc.)

I can take pictures and document our strike

I can help lead chants

I want to be a press contact (there is a special training for press contacts--this is the person we direct reporters to.)

I want to be on the Food Crew (planning food, transporting food, distributing food, eating food)

Help us with our rallies! We have short rallies both days at 12:00. We are looking for lecturers and allies (although that may fill up quick) to speak each day with brief (under 5 minute) speeches; we have talking points and can do a messaging training.
