Adzogbo (Ewe “traditional")
Adjogbo originally was a form of divination in the court of Kundo, a war-leader from the Fon-speaking people of Dahomey, during the 1700s.  Dancers would become possessed and elders would predict the outcome of upcoming battles by interpreting their movements.  Eventually, Adzogbo lost this esoteric function and became a flamboyant genre of drumming and dancing.
