Pattern Assessment
Patterns can have multiple meanings and elements in a design. Repetition focuses on the same object being repeated; patterns are made up of different components which are then repeated in the same way throughout the design. A seamless pattern is one that flows throughout without flaw in the beginning or end: the entire pattern is a single, coherent unit. This approach to design becomes especially important when thinking about designs that incorporate significant amounts of color, texture or depth.

Read and Write
Basically, a pattern occurs when one or more symbols repeat themselves and fill a surface in a (more or less) structured way. This repetition can be regular or irregular. The effect of the pattern changes depending on which symbols are used and how they are repeated.
