Event Request for Joy A. Williams

Thank you for your interest in Joy A. Williams sharing a teaching or encouraging words with your group. Here are brief descriptions of Joy’s most recent topics for speaking engagements. Feel free to select one of these topics or submit your requested topic in the "topic" section of this form.

1.THE BENEFITS OF LEARNING YOUR FRIENDSHIP MAPS (Maturity, Aspirations, Perspectives and Struggles)
Why are your friends your friends?  Using biblical examples, from her book Friendship MAPS, Joy shares insights on why we choose our friends and how our friendships can reflect God’s choices as we navigate Maturity,  Aspirations,  Perspectives,  and Struggles (MAPS). (Approximate duration: 60 minutes or two 30-minute sessions)

Participants will learn:

(1) Which area of their MAPS (maturity, aspirations, perspectives or struggles) is the magnet in their friendship connections;

(2) How to detect if a friendship is being threatened by superficiality or being built by the sufficiency of God’s grace; and

(3) How to invite God into their friendships, whether they are walking in agreement with a friend or facing a fork in the road on their friendship journey.

2. DISCOVER THE POWER OF LIVING YOUR JOY STORY
“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12: 2 (ESV)

The verse in Hebrews highlights Christ’s motivation for enduring the Cross. It was for “the joy that was set before Him.” However, this may not be our perspective when we’re faced with life's difficulties. Drawing from the Savior’s perspective, Joy shares how attendees can embrace the “joy set before them” — particularly in difficult times. (Approximate duration: 30 to 45 minutes)

Participants will learn:

(1) Why joy is significant in our lives;

(2) How receiving Christ’s redemption establishes a reservoir of joy in us; and

(3) How to live their “joy story,” when joy is hard to find.

3. UNEARTHING THE TREASURE OF OUR TRUST

“And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness — secret riches, I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.” (Isaiah 45:3 NLT)

God treasures our trust because it shows we treasure Him. And yet, when life happens, we may bury our trust because we feel vulnerable. We feel victimized. We feel like we've lost our value. (Approximate duration: 30 minutes)

Participants will be encouraged to:

(1) Trust the wisdom of God's authority.

(2) Trust the sufficiency of God's grace.

(3) Trust the faithfulness of God's promises.
