Overview:

The Center for Women in Technology (CWIT) at UMBC is sponsoring small groups of students to attend each of the following professional conferences. These are a great opportunity to connect with women and underrepresented groups in computing or engineering and innovative organizations, hear stories from peers and experts, and get quality career advice specific to your needs.

Society of Women Engineers Annual Conference
Date: October 20-22, 2022 (Travel October 19-23) **Subject to change**
Location: In-person in Houston, Texas

Virtual Conference Value of the Sponsorship:
--- Conference registration will be paid by UMBC.
--- Opportunities to connect with other UMBC students attending the conference  

If selected, you will be expected to:

--- Attend pre-conference meeting TBD
--- Respond promptly to conference related emails
--- Communicate conference time commitment with professors and other obligations
--- Block out the time of the conference on your calendar to fully attend the conference
--- Attend a post conference meeting TBD

In-Person Conference --- Total Approximate Value of the Sponsorship: $2,500

--- Hotel will be paid by UMBC.
--- Conference registration will be paid by UMBC.
--- Flight, transportation, parking, and meals will be reimbursed to the student.

If selected, you will be expected to:

--- Attend pre-conference meeting TBD
--- Attend pre-conference meeting in September (TBD)
--- Book flight by TBD (you will be reimbursed after the conference)
--- Respond promptly to conference related emails
--- Attend a post conference meeting (TBD)

Special note:

Students who have applied for a scholarship to attend the conferences already through the Anita Borg Institute (or other companies) and students who have never attended the conferences before will receive priority.  Students who do not meet these criteria are still eligible, though, so do still apply!
