CalTeach Program Interest Form
UCI CalTeach is a program for undergraduate science and mathematics majors interested in exploring a career in education. Through our coursework, students learn teaching skills and practice these methods in local K-12 classrooms. CalTeach offers a unique opportunity for students to complete a bachelor’s degree concurrently with a California single-subject teaching credential in just four years! The single-subject teaching credential is for teaching in middle school or high schools only. UCI CalTeach is jointly sponsored by the Schools of Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Education.

CalTeach Mission: to recruit, support, and prepare diverse math and science majors to become equity-focused secondary teachers who are change agents in high-need schools.

Our introductory course, PS 5/BS 14 includes elementary fieldwork at a local school site. Due to COVID-19, however, we are unsure if you will be placed at a school site. PS 5/BS 14 is offered during fall, winter and spring quarter, so you do not have to enroll in it your fall quarter if you do not have space! If you are not a major under the School of Biological Sciences or Physical Sciences, please contact Chelsea Barilli at cbarilli@uci.edu to receive an authorization code to enroll.
This course is no commitment-- you can take this course to see if teaching is for you, and you do not have to declare to be in CalTeach until your second year!
Are you currently enrolled or plan to enroll in our introductory course, PS 5/BS 14 during the fall quarter? *
