Tyler Bailey (Bradley P.D.) Scholarship Application
The scholarship is in honor of Bradley Police Officer Tyler Bailey.

On Dec. 29, 2021, Officer Bailey and his partner, Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic, responded to a report of dogs barking in an unattended vehicle in the parking lot of a local hotel.

After locating the vehicle and owner inside a hotel room, both officers were shot after trying to talk with the people inside the room. Officer Bailey was critically wounded, and his partner, Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic, 49, died at the hospital.

The essay details follow:  For various reasons the number of police officers in our cities has declined to an all time low.  What is causing the steep decline in the number of police officers we have and what can we do to bring the numbers of police officers back to a safe level?

The author of the winning essay will be chosen by a panel, comprised of the Bradley Police Department.  The winner will receive tuition assistance in the amount of $300.00. The awards ceremony will be held May 16th, with more information forthcoming.
