FREE COC INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR THE PUBLIC, ESTATE AGENTS,
CONVEYANCERS, AND STAKEHOLDERS


What?
Chris Koen, the Highveld region’s Regional Director, and Technical Advisor, Anthony Schewitz, have introduced a new service initiative: In collaboration with the ECA’s Highveld Executive Committee they will present free CoC information sessions for local estate agents, conveyancers and transfer attorneys and other stakeholders.
Why?
“We receive many queries about CoCs and the aim of these information sessions Is to inform the public and those involved in the sale and transfer of properties about the Certificate of Compliance and answer all those other frequently asked questions,” says Chris.
When?
The information sessions will be arranged to take place from 10 am to 12 pm on the Zoom Platform on the 19th September 2020
Who?
“We encourage ECA members to invite estate agents and conveyancing attorneys in their areas to come to these meetings so that they can be brought up to speed on the legal requirements pertaining to Certificates of Compliance – specifically that only registered electrical contractors may legally issue CoCs when properties are sold,” says Chris. “Using unregistered electrical contractors can be an expensive exercise – as many people have discovered.”
What else?
He says they will use the opportunity to endorse ECA member contractors and promote the ECA’s Workmanship Guarantee Scheme that covers members’ work up to R20 000.
