We are calling for volunteers who would like to remotely supervise students from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cameroon. The supervision will take place during the "Essay phase", which runs from 3 April to 15 May 2020.
Supervising AIMS students is a commitment but also a highly rewarding experience. You will receive a honorarium of €250 for each supervised student. At discretion of the AIMS Academic Director, supervisors with 2 or 3 students might also be invited to visit AIMS Cameroon for a period of up to a month.
This academic year, students at AIMS will be offered four courses that are part of the "Data science stream": statistical problem solving, statistical inference, statistical modelling, time-to-event data analysis, financial statistics and statistics for climate science. A description of the content of some these courses is available at the following link:

- to have at least one supervisory call (e.g. via Skype) per week with your student;
- to provide the student with feedback via email outside the calls;
- to assess the final report submitted by the student using the form provided by AIMS.
Students are expected:
- to ask their supervisor for any clarification on the project proposal;
- to actively seek feedback from their supervisor;
- to have carried out all the work presented in the final report.
NB: Make sure that the aims of the projects and the main tasks that the student is expected to carry out are clear and explicitly stated in the project description.
