CR Phone Line Volunteer Sign Up Form

⭐️ ABOUT CR's PRISONER SOLIDARITY PHONE LINE:
As a political organization working to abolish the prison industrial complex (PIC), CR strives to foster strong, principled and mutually-beneficial relationships with imprisoned people across the PIC’s cages as a way to break cycles of isolation, stay informed on conditions inside, connect people inside with CR's work and campaigns, and offer abolitionist resources and advocacy tools.

⭐️ VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS:
  • CR asks that volunteers attend the full 2-Part Training Series to become fully trained up in the logistics, how-to's, values and principles that ground our work in the Phone Line Program.
  • CR asks that volunteers commit to volunteering for a minimum of 6 months.
  • CR asks that volunteers upon attending the training series sign up for a weekly 2 hour shift during our hours of operation, Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time. 
  • Accessibility/Tech: Volunteers will need access to a cell phone, wifi, internet (for logging calls in CR's contact management system, as well as google drive for accessing CR's Prisoner Resource Library.
Additionally, the Phone Line program offers volunteers a weekly office hour for drop-in questions and support, as well as a monthly Volunteer Call on the 4th Sunday of the month from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Pacific Time as a space for community building, political education, skill sharing, and to share resources and support (not required but highly encouraged).

 *Formerly imprisoned people, people with imprisoned loved ones, people who are systems impacted, and people with experience in prisoner solidarity and correspondence work are highly encouraged to apply!

*All Phone Line calls will go through CR's phone number, volunteer phone numbers will NOT be visible or shared with callers.

2-PART PHONE LINE VOLUNTEER TRAINING SERIES (REQUIRED):
PART ONE |  Sunday, August 28th  | 10:00 - 1:00 PM (PACIFIC TIME)

Participants will explore CR's roots in the radical prisoner movement, learn about CR's current work & campaigns, and get trained up in how to volunteer!

PART TWO |  Sunday, September 4th  | 10:00 - 1:00 PM (PACIFIC TIME)
Via Zoom
Participants will explore boundaries & communication skills, and will develop a shared understanding around the values & principles of prisoner solidarity, mutual interest & joint struggle for PIC abolition that ground the Phone Line program.
