Remote ImPACT Testing for Kennett Middle School
Hello Students & Parents!
While I do very much like meeting with our student-athletes for ImPACT Testing, to talk about concussions, what 7th grade sports may look like and a general "Welcome to the KMS World of Sports", we are now offering a remote option to families for ImPACT Testing.
First of all, it’s important to know what this test is and why students are required to take it – Please read and watch this information with your student athlete… but they will take the test on their own. Athletes will be required to take an ImPACT Test every 2 years until they graduate should they continue with sports in high school. An ImPACT Test is an online cognitive computer test, that will evaluate the brain on a regular “day at rest”, uninjured with no symptoms. This will give us a baseline to work from should an athlete get a concussion. Please take a moment to watch this below video before going into the test itself. I will stress that the student should take this “test” seriously in a calm, quiet environment on a laptop or desktop computer. This is a pass fail/test and has to be passed before participating in the team practice.
This cannot be taken on a cell phone or tablet.
There are 3 parts:
1. Basic student Information (name, address, general health/learning info)
2. Current feelings/symptoms
3. The test – think the game of Memory as a small child… there will be colors, number sequences, shapes & word recollection.
It’s not hard to do as long as you take your time, read the directions and focus. This is a Pass/Fail test and we will check results after the test is completed.
Please watch this brief 5 minute educational video before moving on to the test:
