At South Elementary we are very fortunate to have many community resources available to provide assistance to families in need. Below is a list of some of the assistance programs we are able to offer at SES because of generous community support. Please place a check by any area you need assistance with. The school counselor, Ms. Younce, will receive your answers and then contact you with more information. If you have any questions about any of these programs, please contact Ms. Younce at ryounce@mgsd.k12.nc.us. More information will be sent home about any programs you check once the programs are ready to begin. All of these programs require additional parent information and/or permission forms to be completed prior to your child being able to receive assistance.

Weekend Backpack Meals: This program is a first come first serve with a limited number of participants. Once we have filled all of our spots we will add any additional names to a waiting list for when another spot becomes available.

Christmas assistance: Mooresville Christian Mission generously coordinates assistance programs for our families in need. Applications typically go out at the end of September or first of October.

Rainbow Kidz Grief Group: a small group designed to assist students who have experienced the death of a loved one. Students must be in first grade or up to participate. The group is conducted by Meredith Fleming, a licensed social worker with Hospice and is held once a week for 10-12 weeks. In this group, students are able to learn to understand their grief and the different feelings they have, as well as, learn different ways to cope with their feelings. Please list the student’s relationship to the loved one who passed away

School Based Mental Health Program: Integrative Wellness Solutions will have counselors based at our school providing mental health and social/emotional support within the school setting and virtually. Parents must complete a release of information in order for a referral to be made to one of these organizations.
