Global Initiatives Program opportunities for Poly families: Hosting International Students

PolyGlobal invites you to share in a remarkable family opportunity. Throughout this year, Poly will be hosting students from Japan, Taiwan, France, and Finland. Up to the COVID years, Poly families hosted students from overseas for spans from 2 - 10 nights. In the past, the Poly families universally remarked how much fun it was to host students in this cross cultural experience. In addition the joy in sharing their home and SoCal life with guests from abroad, the insights gleaned from having a visitor, and many Poly students, even families, have kept contact with their visiting students and even gone on to later visit the student and her/his family abroad. To host, we do not require extravagant accommodations and only ask that the visiting student have her/his own bed, that you provide breakfasts/dinners, and you take one evening/day to show your student around Pasadena/Los Angeles/SoCal. Upper school student hosts will receive interaction credit towards the Global Scholars Certificate.

Taiwan's Fuhsing High School will be visiting Poly January 20-27, 2024. Students participating in our reciprocal language immersion exchange will be hosting the school group.

We can be a back up family should a need arise.

France's College Saint Martin under the auspices of a biannual reciprocal exchange program with Poly, will be visiting Poly February 26 - March 4, 2024. There will be 20-24 French 8th-9th grade students and two English speaking female chaperones who are very familiar with Poly and LA. This is a particularly special opportunity for those seeking to practice their French speaking abilities and/or a cross-cultural experience. Students and families do not need to be French speakers to host.

Finland's Jarvenpaa High School, under the auspices of Pasadena's Sister Cities, will be visiting Poly April 10-15 2024. There will be 7 Finnish students visiting Poly; we need families to host these six nights.
