Workshop/Course Proposal
Hello Artists and Instructors,

The NVCAC values the contributions and participation of its Artists and Instructors.
We love to offer workshops and/or courses that help to share your passion with the Merritt community.

Definitions:
Workshop - a single class in which people engage in intensive discussion and activity on a particular subject or project.

Course - multiple classes in which people engage in discussion and activity on a particular subject with one or more projects.

Series - an ongoing weekly or monthly class in which people engage in discussion and activity on a different subject/project each class.

Please submit a separate form for each topic or technique that you would like to deliver a Workshop or Course in. (Example: If you teach Watercolour, Drawing & Acrylic that would be 3 separate Proposal Forms, unless it is an exploratory course that includes all 3 techniques)

The Form:
To help ensure that our programming matches exactly your vision of a Workshop or Course that you would like to deliver, please fill in the form below.

We will do our best to accommodate your proposal and schedule to ensure a successful event.
(NOTE: the sooner you submit your Proposal, the better the chance for you to get the days/times you prefer)

If we have missed anything please use the "Additional Comments" section at the end of the form.

NVCAC will provide:
  • Space
  • Supplies from NVCAC Inventory
  • Tools (brushes, paint pallets, etc) 
  • Accessories (table cloths, water containers, paper towels)
  • Promotion, Social Media, Post on Website
  • Online Registration Form
  • Printing (if required for class)
  • Student List with Contact Info
  • Collection of Fees
  • Feedback from Students
Instructor's will provide:  
  • Supplies that are not available from the NVCAC inventory
    (NOTE: receipts must be provided for reimbursement. Instructor's can bring in supplies they have on hand from home  - Maximum $25 will be reimbursed)
  • Self promotion on Social Media
  • Newsletter blurb
  • Invoice Form filled in and submitted within 30 days of class completion 
    (receipts emailed separately to Program Director)
Terms of Pay: 
  • Base rate is $25/hour of instruction for the first 8 classes taught at NVCAC
    (For a Course (multiple classes) each class will count as one)
  • Rate will increase to $30/hour for the 9th to 16th classes taught at NVCAC
  • Rate will increase to $35/hour for the 17th class onward*
  • All classes will receive one hour of pay for prep time up to and including 6 students attending (at base rate of $25/hour)
  • Classes with 7+ students attending will receive an additional hour of pay for prep time
    (at base rate of $25/hour)
Please note that these rates are calculated to help keep the classes affordable for Merritt Community members.

*Negotiated Instructor Fee
In very special circumstances, a different pay rate can be negotiated.
This would be an Instructor with extensive experience in a niche that will attract a large number of students who will pay higher than normal tuition. 
If you wish to pursue this possibility, please provide Rationale in the "Additional Comments" section at the bottom of this Form.

   - Will they learn art theory (design principles, history, genres, etc)

   - What project(s) will they work on
   - How will the instructor lead the class (demonstration, coaching, assisting students, showing samples etc)
   - What do the students need to bring (paint shirt, inspiration object, lunch etc)

Space - Studio or Clubhouse?

Which space do you think would be most suitable for your proposed Workshop or Course?

The Studio is the workshop space near the Kekuli Restaurant. Paint supplies are stored there. 

The Clubhouse is at the back of the building and is accessed from the back parking lot. Painting is not permitted in the Clubhouse. It is best suited for activities like Needle Felting, Paper Quilling, Knitting/Crocheting.
