Cricket Farm Research
We are looking for students to help out in research involving the design of cricket farms.

This is a step towards alternative protein and food security for Singapore

Current cricket farming methods are very labor-intensive and low-tech. We want to explore how to zhng it with technology (3D print/ IoT)

Students will be involved in activities such as:

- setting up experiments to answer questions such as: what attracts crickets? are they drawn to specific types of light, sound, temperature, etc?

- 3D modelling of cricket farms, making physical prototypes (we will 3d-print the prototype if design is too funky to make with basic art-friend materials)

- setting up sensors and programming Raspberry Piis /Arduinos if it is required for the experiment

- taking care of crickets (like they are your pets)

- eating crickets (if you are feeling hungry)

We will work with Christopher Leow, host of Growing Wild - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOFfx2jOlx0&t=1024s

Low commitment, flexible timing

The purpose is to gain exposure into this industry and conduct scientific research. We aim to publish papers with our findings and pitch for funding to develop POCs.

Please indicate your interest here. We will contact you if you are selected. Please contact Terrence @ tcl@nus.edu.sg if there are any questions. Thank you!
