2023-24 UA High School Course Intention Survey
By selecting the courses that your student intends to take in the fall, you are *not* registering for these courses. However, this survey is extremely helpful and informs leadership of your intent for both our planning and scheduling purposes. Only those returning families who have paid their registration deposit are being asked to complete this survey.

Please complete this survey for each individual high school student in your family.

Selecting a class now does not guarantee we will be able to offer it, but your responses will strongly influence which classes make the final schedule. We know that plans may change, but your feedback is invaluable to us! Thank you for your help!

Please select your plans for History at Arrow.

The general history cycle for Arrow is:

9th: Early American History (offered annually)

10th & 11th: Modern US & World History AND Western Civilization (offered alternating years)

[The 3-year cycle may also be started in 10th grade. 11th and 12th graders are welcome to take Early American History, but the make up of the class will be largely 9th and 10th graders.]

Biblical Citizenship & Public Policy: This class has lighter homework than other history offerings (approx 2 hr/week average) and is an excellent capstone class as students transition to Dual Credit. Several students have taken this course at the same time as a traditional history course. If that interests you, please indicate at the bottom of the survey. Will be offered as demanded; likely rotating every other year.

Economics: Offered as demanded

Please select your plans for English at Arrow.

Please read descriptions carefully and consider if you are looking for primarily writing, literature, or a true mix of both. We will not be able to offer all of the potential classes below, so your feedback will help us schedule the best balance of classes for our community.

English 1 will have a mandatory parent equipping (3-4 hours)in late summer.

Students going into English 1 and 2 will take a placement exam on either May 11th or 12th.

Please select your plans for Science at Arrow. Science classes have age restrictions and pre-requisites. Currently, Arrow offers both 2-hour classes [Generally 3-4 hours of homework weekly: this time commitment confers an honors level designation] and 75-minute science classes [Generally 2-3 hours of homework weekly]. All sciences qualify as a lab science; however, formal lab reports are more emphasized in the 2-hour classes. *
Please select your plans for Foreign Language at Arrow.

If there is enough commitment, French 1 will be offered in 2023-24 with plans for French 2 for the 2024-25 school year.
*
Please select your plans for Math at Arrow (2 days/week).

All math classes will have a placement exam on May 11th or May 12th.
*
Please select your plans for Electives at Arrow. As you consider classes, please only select the classes you MOST desire for your student and avoid selecting all electives you would be willing to enroll your student in. We are looking to determine highest demand and want families to get their highest priority classes. Selecting more electives than will fit on a schedule will not help clarify which classes need the most seats. Not all electives will be offered every year and are based on staff availability and student interest.

Electives are offered on Wednesday unless otherwise indicated.

LeTourneau Dual Credit (Grades 10th+)

These are classes being CONSIDERED for the 23-24 school year. An ideal schedule would be Arrow offering 2-3 Dual credit classes per semester. However, staffing for Dual Credit is limited by a strict qualification process and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to find someone.

Please only select Dual Credit classes in which you would be HIGHLY likely to enroll your student for the 2023-24 if it were offered at Arrow.

Classes marked with an '*' already have confirmed staff availability and will definitely be on the schedule if there is interest.

Dual credit classes will have a 90-minute zoom class on Monday and a 90 minute in person class period on Wednesday.

Clubs!

We would love to offer a couple of clubs for high school students. Clubs are non-graded, occasional special interest groups. We can only offer them if we have parents step up to sponsor them. Clubs may be offered after school or on the weekend. Clubs will have various fees depending on how often they meet and what expenses they will incur.

Here are a few ideas that have been suggested to Arrow leadership.
Please share any thoughts about course suggestions, leads on teachers, biggest values, or anything else that might help leadership craft a schedule that will bless your family. Thanks!
