Thank you for your interest in the Civic Leaders Academy from June 24th to 28th, 2024 at the University of Maryland, College Park and Washington, DC! The Close Up Foundation is conducting this program in partnership with Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS).
The Civic Leaders Summer Academy provides students the opportunity to learn more about government, public policy, and the issues impacting their community with peers from across the county while using Washington, DC as a classroom. There is no cost to this program.
The Academy will run from 9am-4pm (Monday - Friday) June 24 – 28, 2024. There will be multiple pick up and drop off locations at high schools throughout the county for bus transportation (locations TBD). There will also be an option to bring students directly on site (location TBD). Students will be required to be dropped off no later than 9:00am.
The application is now open, and we are accepting applications on a rolling basis.
- The middle school program will accept 150 rising 8th grade students (currently in 7th grade).
- The high school program will accept 150 rising 10th grade students (currently in 9th grade).
