Grading for Growth- David Clark, Grand Valley State University

Abstract: What is the purpose of grades? Do grades do what we want them to? We will learn about alternatives to the traditional “pile of points” approach to grading, and see how these alternatives can support learning, provide clarity, and encourage perseverance and growth. A large part of this workshop will be hands-on practice with these more equitable assessment methods. Please bring a syllabus and a typical assignment from a class you’ve taught at least once.
