2022 Equity Symposium Call for Proposals
On August 23, all Highline staff will come together to deepen their learning and understanding about equity. All staff will attend this one-day virtual event. After an all-staff opening session, attendees will attend two choice sessions, and then have opportunity to discuss their learning with school/department colleagues.

The theme of the 2022 Equity Symposium is E.L.E.V.A.T.E (Everyone Leads, Every Voice Aspiring Toward Equity). We look forward to engaging in collective learning to ELEVATE our efforts and impact toward equity.

We invite staff, students and community members to submit proposals to present sessions. Proposals are due June 10 (Extended from May 27). Students, families, and community presenters  will receive a $100 honorarium. Eligible staff will receive two hours of extra service pay for planning.

Questions can be directed to the Equity Symposium Planning Team by contacting Ishmael Miller, Project Manager/Analyst Racial Equity Initiatives (ishmael.miller@highlineschools.org) and Jenniffer Reinig, Chief Academic Officer (jenniffer.reinig@highlineschools.org).

Sessions will be 60 minutes and can be a panel discussion, demonstration, interactive workshop or other formats. All sessions will be presented virtually. Sessions should provide the opportunity to reflect, learn and deepen the work of equity in one or more of these categories:

- Roundtable Discussions about Equity
- Becoming a Racial Ally, Accomplice and Co-Conspirator
- Transformative Justice in Education
- Dimensions of Cultural or Racial Diversity
- Intersectionality
