ITINERARY
Weather and flow dependent overnight packrafting trip. Plan A is to walk into Totara Flats and paddle the Waiohine back to the roadend. Plan B is to paddle another Tararua river or head slightly further north to the Rangatikei. Plan C is to turn this into a day paddle on the Hutt.

Not suitable for those who have not packrafted before. This is a grade II+ trip, not a beginner trip. At minimum, participants should have done a Packrafting 101 course and been paddling a few times since to embed their skills. Swimming skills and own packrafting gear required. Places will be limited depending on availability of experienced helpers to come on the trip but max of 8.

Likely private transport as need flexibility to match good river conditions

GRADE: II+

REQUIREMENTS
>> Punters must have done a packrafting training course and paddled a few rivers since their training.
>> Must be competent on Grade II+ backcountry rivers
>> Must have wetsuit or drysuit as the valley will be cold out of the sun in March.
>> Must have a good pfd, throw rope and the group needs four cow tails for towing lost boats with screw gates.
>> Helmets for whitewater are needed, no bicycle helmets.
>> Punters must be good trampers ie know how to camp, pack, be team members.
