11U Michigan Generals 2023-2024 (players born 2012)

We are excited to announce that Michigan Generals will have an 11U team again for the 2023-2023! This team will be coached by Scott Sansom and will practice regulary with the 12U Aubrey team. If your daughter is 11 years old or younger on December 31, 2023, she is eligible to try out for this team. We are looking for competitive athletes who love to play softball, and want to improve their skills and learn the game, all while playing with teammates  who are committed to the team's success. We are also looking for parents who are able to support their daughter and their daughter's teammates alike.

This team will NOT:

  • Play in an indoor winter league where kids are playing games late at night.
  • Play every weekend.
  • Finalize a summer tournament schedule until after our fall season.
  • Tolerate any parent drama or immature adults who cannot set a good example for young athletes.
  • Place winning above the physical health of players.

11U Coach Scott Sansom:

I grew up on the west side of the state in Greenville. I played baseball throughout school, playing catcher in high school. After earning my undergrad at Central Michigan University, I began my teaching and coaching career in Corunna, MI. While in Corunna, I taught high school math and science. I coached  a variety of sports, including boys and girls varsity tennis, junior varsity baseball, freshmen girls basketball, and middle school cross country.
I am currently a high school math teacher and youth sports coach, having recently served as a teeball and basketball coach for my three children. I am an unofficial assistant coach with my daughter's current travel team.
At any level and in any sport, I value player development, safety, team camaraderie, and sportsmanship. I want girls on my team who play hard, desire to improve, and are great teammates. I'm looking forward to a great season with the Generals in which each girl makes incredible strides and the team has a wonderful time playing and winning softball games together.

12U Coach Julie Aubrey Bio:

This will be my third year coaching with the Michigan Generals Fastpitch Organization. I was a three sport varsity athlete at Birmingham Groves High School. I attended Michigan State University on a softball scholarship and know first hand what it takes to play at the division 1 level. I earned a secondary teaching degree and master's degree from MSU and have taught skills for living and English at the middle and high school levels.

As a player I was fortunate to have some incredible coaches and have always enjoyed sharing my experience and expertise to teach girls the game. I have coached at both the developmental and competitive levels. I focus on teaching fundamentals and metal toughness; encouraging players to have a growth mindset and strive to better themselves. I am passionate about helping girls develop life skills that will help them succeed in their future. I expect every player to work hard, to commit time and effort to improving her skills and to show good sportsmanship at all times. I expect the same from parents.

I live in Bingham Farms with my husband and our two daughters. I love to travel, spend time with family and friends and horseback ride. I’m looking forward to another great softball season in 2023-2024!

12U Assistant Coach Jenna Frommer Bio:

Hi parents and players! My name is Jenna Frommer and this will be my second year as an assistant coach for this incredible team. I am 21 years old and currently a senior at Michigan State University studying Human Biology. I played for the Michigan Generals Organization for 7 years (12u-18u). After my playing days were over I decided I wanted to give back to this amazing sport and be a role model for these hard working and talented athletes. I was in your daughter’s shoes just a few years ago and believe I can be there to help guide her through the physical and especially mental aspect of this game. I am super excited to be coaching again this year and can’t wait to meet your players at tryouts!
