Members Meeting: Self-Employment Q&A
NEW DATE: Thursday 7 October (postponed from 6 October due to staff sickness)
7 - 8:30pm
Zoom

Do you know your rights as a freelance worker? Do you know the difference between tax status and employment status? Do you know how to negotiate contracts, chase invoices, or deal with premises? What kind of legal rights do you think freelancers should have?

At October’s members meeting, we’ll be joined by Finnian Clarke, one of UVW’s Legal Caseworkers, to answer your questions about self-employment and freelancing. If you have specific questions or topics you would like to be covered, please let us know when you register.

Even if you don’t have any specific questions, please join the session. We will start by sharing key information around legal status and employment rights which might provoke unexpected questions for you. Join your fellow cultural workers to learn together!

This Q&A session is intended to share knowledge, answer questions, and begin a discussion about the kind of system we would like to see as part of our campaign for a fairer and healthier working life for cultural sector workers.

If there is time, you will also have the chance to join a breakout 'Chapel' for focused discussion on work in:

🎨 Visual arts and galleries
💻 Graphic design
🎭 Theatre and performance
🎶 Music and nightlife
✂️ Fashion
🏫 Creative education and participatory arts
