Independent Study (IS)


Thank you for working with AZRID! This is the participant's form for an Independent Study.

Your project needs to focus on your own growth and gain, as an interpreter, and how you will go about doing this.  


This form MUST be completed and submitted to sponsor a minimum of 30 days prior to start of your project.

Once the forms are submitted to your sponsor, you may expect some back and forth communication with the sponsor.  The sponsor may ask for clarification, give feedback or offer suggestions on changing or narrowing your topic.


For AZRID members in good standing (member 6 months or longer) the fee to process a workshop is $15. AZRID charges a fee of $30 for non-members.

Submit a justification document detailing why this activity qualifies as something that will further your growth as an interpreter.  


The Justification Statement can be a couple paragraphs or a full paper.  The intent is to clearly identify to the Sponsor, the reason for taking this course (PINRA, IS or Academic Coursework) and the value it has as an educational program.  There are several questions that should be answered in the statement:


1- Why is this educational pursuit important for the interpreters professional development? 

2- How will the interpreter use the information gained?

3- Is it to address an immediate or time limited issue or long term learning?

4- Is the information of a unique nature or necessary for development of a specialization?

Upon completion of activity, submit proof that you have completed- how you will do this is detailed in your design.

Please note: IS MUST be completed within one calendar year of approval.
I understand the elements required by AZRID CMP for CEU approval are a direct reflection of what is required by RID.
