Good morning/afternoon/evening.
The Gorham School Committee is currently gathering information to help determine what is in the best interest of our K-12 students for the remainder of this school year. One option is to remain in our current hybrid model. The other option currently under development would move K-8 students to a 4 day per week model and ask students in grades 9-12 to alternate use of 1/2 days on Friday mornings for increased face to face time. Both directions have benefits and unintended consequences for our students, families and staff. We need your voice to help us to determine what may be in the best interest of our students moving forward.
You are all already familiar with our current hybrid model. An initial draft overview of the 4 day per week scenario was linked to the invitation email. This overview provides more details of this possible new plan, but please know our planning continues to evolve so it is subject to change and adjustment.
The School Committee is now tasked with the important job of working to decide which direction is in the best interest of students. Your feedback will help them to determine the best path moving forward.
Please know that although your individual survey responses will be 100% confidential...we will be sharing the summary results with the School Committee at their April 1, 2021 Special meeting. Therefore, your voices - through this survey - will be integral in assisting the School Committee in determining next steps.
The survey should take between 10-15 minutes. The deadline for completion of the survey will be by end of day on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to your Principals.
THANK YOU!
