아이가 한국인으로서 정체성을 잃을 까봐 걱정되시는 분, 가정에서 어떻게 아이들의 한국어 발달 지원을 도와줘야 할지 막막 하신 분, 아이들이 한국어를 배우고 싶지 않다고 하여 힘드신 분, 아이들 한국어 교육을 거의 포기하신 분… 함께 모여서 고민을 나누고 이야기 나눌 수 있는 학부모 학습 공동체를 시범적으로 운영해보려고 합니다. 만약 진행이 된다면Zoom을 통해 만나려고 합니다. (Facilitator: 김명진 선생님)

I am Myung-Jin Kim, a heritage language and bilingual education expert who has served our KACSCO community for six years since 2014. While counseling parents and students formally and informally, I have noticed that parents often feel that they’ve reached a dead-end in raising their children as Korean Americans in the U.S. Thus, I would like to build a community of support, KACSCO Parent Learning Community (PLC), where we can share our concerns and collaboratively look for how to encourage your (and “our” in Korean) Korean heritage language learners/Korean-English bilinguals. We will meet on Zoom for 60-90 mins (depending on the number of participants), and I will lead the group as a facilitator.
