GRR is an annual music summer camp at The Holland Project for youth ages 9-17. GRR provides music instruction in vocals, guitar, bass, and drums to youth of all skill levels, supported by valuable workshops in rock history, screen printing and button making, radio production, stage confidence, social justice, gender identity and more. We strive to promote self-love with programs that foster not only creativity and community-building, but also confidence and empowerment. GRR promotes skills which help guide participants throughout their lives.
Our goal is to counter the underrepresentation of people of marginalized gender identities in music, and we are committed to creating a positive, inclusive environment.
We welcome all self-identified girls/women, gender-expansive, non-binary, and trans participants. GRR 2024 is set for June 17th-22nd at the Holland Project (140 Vesta St.).
Please keep in mind that we’re a small, volunteer-run organization -- some volunteer roles offer small stipends while some do not. Feel free to reach out with any questions about payment, or anything else. While we’d love to accept all volunteers, we'll make selections based on enrollment numbers. You may have heard of GRR already -- formerly called "Girls Rock Reno." We have currently shifted to using only the acronym GRR (except in our already-established web domain & email address). We are currently working towards choosing a new name without the word "girls" that puts a greater emphasis on gender justice & inclusion. Please stay tuned & involved as this conversation continues.
