Supporting SMEs Impacted by COVID-19: Students interest form

The United States International University-Africa through the School of Science and Technology is looking to support small & medium enterprises (SMEs) who have been particularly hard hit by the pandemic. Majority of these businesses have traditionally operated in physical environment, not online. We understand that many of them have had to switch their operations as best they can, coordinating by phone or through remote work. For some, going online is a lifeline to survive. However, the SMEs may not have the time, knowledge or resources to implement an online model quickly.

The proposal is to offer a no cost service to increase the online presence of SMEs. Each project will be done by students volunteers under the guidance of mentor. The focus is on quickly solving one technology problem or providing one new online capability. Students will be paired in a team of 3 for each SME project. Each project will take 2-3 weeks hence the need to scope the project to what the team can deliver within that time.
