STAR (Students Taking Academic Responsibility) time is one of several opportunities for academic support at Jones Middle School.
STAR Time meets on specific Thursdays from 4:15-5:15pm in the media center.
This is an after-school opportunity to complete homework, make up assignments or make up tests. A teacher is on call to assist, but tutoring is NOT provided.
How does my student participate?
Students coming for STAR time must be signed up in advance by their parent/guardian or a teacher. Students are not required to attend the entire time but all students should be promptly picked up at 5:15pm.
Please submit the STAR time form by 5:00 PM Wednesday in order to register your child. No forms will be accepted after 5pm. This will allow time for communication with teachers to gather assignments.
Due to social distancing, late additions without prior sign up are not allowed and parents will be called to pick up their child.
A STAR time form must be filled out for individually by date. Students should attend with a specific task in a subject to complete. Disruptive students or students being off-task will lose the privilege of attending.
Paper copies of assignments maybe be provided, but students should still bring their device and charger. If students uses a school device, they will be able to get their device when they arrive.
MASKS ARE REQUIRED!
STAR time is occasionally canceled due to a low number of students signed up.
STAR time dates: Sept-9,16, 23, 30; Oct- 14, 21, 28; Nov-4, 11, 18; Dec- 2, 9, 16
