An OSSTF D17 Contract teacher, or Continuing Education teachers with at least 330 hours within the past year, in good standing can be funded for Conferences/Workshops/Training Opportunities, Courses, and/or Association Fees up to $1000.00 in any one school year.
An activity that occurs during June, July or August will be considered for funding as part of the previous school year and all applications and supporting documentation/receipts must be submitted no later than September 30th of the current school year.
D17 TBU funding is NOT available for SCDSB sponsored professional learning. The PD fund is NOT intended to supplement the SCDSB’s in-service, nor any School Board or Ministry of Education initiatives. It is intended for D17 TBU members who are self-directing their professional learning.
Members applying for time release and/or supply coverage to attend their conference or workshop MUST have their application approved by the Committee PRIOR to attending in order to be granted access to OSSTF-Funded Professional Development Release Time.
For conferences/workshops/training that DO NOT require release time and courses, applications MUST be received before the END date of the course or event.
Requests will be considered in the order in which they are received until the funds are exhausted.
A valid PERSONAL EMAIL ADDRESS must be supplied in order to complete your application and receive communication from the Educational Services Committee. We will not respond to or accept applications from SCDSB email addresses.
You will receive an email with confirmation of approval, or a request for more information, from the Educational Services Sub-Committee for PD Funding following review of your application at our monthly meetings.
The 2023-24 Application for Funding will close on JUNE 15, 2024.
