Position Type: Full Time Employee (30-40 hrs/week)
Job Title: Spagyric Herbal Extract Lab Tech
Location: Deming, Washington United States
Salary Level: starting at $20/hr

We've been manufacturing herbal extracts according to the European alchemical tradition since 2010 on a small scale and are looking for someone to help us run our lab.

The lab tech position involves the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Extraction of fresh and dried herbs via maceration
  • Distillation of volatile oils
  • Fermentation of extracted plant materials
  • Calcination, dissolution, and crystallization of alkali mineral salts
  • Compounding herbal formulas
  • Maintaining quality assurance and quality control
  • Tracking all lab activities on logs, batch records, and forms
  • Maintaining inventory and stock
  • Packaging and shipping orders
  • Managing customer questions and maintaining inbox
  • Harvesting fresh herbs from our herb garden
  • Gardening tasks to maintain herb garden

We're a small, family run business, and as such there are a lot of "hats" to wear, so  while focused on keeping the medicine making going, this position also involves keeping orders moving and doing a bit of customer support.

Our ideal applicant has the following qualities:

  • A love and passion for herbal medicine and medicine making
  • A background and training in herbalism
  • A knack for plant ID, pharmacognosy, and meticulous extraction methods
  • Training in alchemy and spagyrics is a major plus, but is not necessary. An interest or curiosity to learn more about the subject is important
  • Vigilant organization, cleanliness, and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow step-by-step operational procedures
  • Physical capacity to lift heavy objects (an 8 gallon bucket of water for example) used for processing & packaging herbs
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations is a major plus
  • Positive, focused and patient temperament
  • Excels at working alone and with a small team
  • Willingness to work in a rural environment (we're about 45 minutes outside of Bellingham, Washington)
