ABOUT THE LAB TECH POSITION:
Position Type: Full Time Employee (30-40 hrs/week)
Job Title: Spagyric Herbal Extract Lab Tech
Location: Deming, Washington United States
Salary Level: starting at $20/hr
We've been manufacturing herbal extracts according to the European alchemical tradition since 2010 on a small scale and are looking for someone to help us run our lab.
The lab tech position involves the following roles and responsibilities:
- Extraction of fresh and dried herbs via maceration
- Distillation of volatile oils
- Fermentation of extracted plant materials
- Calcination, dissolution, and crystallization of alkali mineral salts
- Compounding herbal formulas
- Maintaining quality assurance and quality control
- Tracking all lab activities on logs, batch records, and forms
- Maintaining inventory and stock
- Packaging and shipping orders
- Managing customer questions and maintaining inbox
- Harvesting fresh herbs from our herb garden
- Gardening tasks to maintain herb garden
We're a small, family run business, and as such there are a lot of "hats" to wear, so while focused on keeping the medicine making going, this position also involves keeping orders moving and doing a bit of customer support.
Our ideal applicant has the following qualities:
- A love and passion for herbal medicine and medicine making
- A background and training in herbalism
- A knack for plant ID, pharmacognosy, and meticulous extraction methods
- Training in alchemy and spagyrics is a major plus, but is not necessary. An interest or curiosity to learn more about the subject is important
- Vigilant organization, cleanliness, and attention to detail
- Ability to follow step-by-step operational procedures
- Physical capacity to lift heavy objects (an 8 gallon bucket of water for example) used for processing & packaging herbs
- Knowledge of cGMP regulations is a major plus
- Positive, focused and patient temperament
- Excels at working alone and with a small team
- Willingness to work in a rural environment (we're about 45 minutes outside of Bellingham, Washington)
