Expression of Interest for an IGL learning programme on ‘Experimenting to drive policy impact’

In recent years, IGL has trained and supported hundreds of policymakers and practitioners around the world to understand and use experimental methods to improve the design, implementation and evaluation of policies and programmes. In 2024, we will be offering a practical learning programme focused on helping individuals in policy institutions to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to start experimenting themselves.

The course will comprise a set of core modules (delivered online over the course of six months) along with some optional sessions on specific topics. We are opening this to our global network, and envision building an international cohort of participants from different organisations.

The programme includes a series of core modules on experimental policy making, but is designed to be able to incorporate additional optional modules linked to participants’ needs. These could include:

• Additional introductory modules to data science appliedto policy making• Advanced technical sessions on experimental design and implementation• Deep dives on key policy challenges (such as inclusive
innovation, technology transfer, etc) and  experimental ideas to address those
• Other topics
