ABOUT THE PROGRAMS

We are back and prepared to safely host youth this summer with three weeks of programming.

Peace thru Culture will resume its in-person programs following the guidelines of the CDC, DC Public Schools and DC Public Charter Schools.  The agreement to participate in the in-person program requires physical distancing and mandatory mask wearing in-side, and on transportation vehicles.  

Our in-person groups are a maximum of 10 youth per group, and two youth development workers to ensure excellent management, youth engagement and exploration.

Following are brief descriptions about each of the PtC Corps: Summer Discovery Series programs.

Summer I: Discover & Share DC Culture /June 27 - July 1, 2022
Summer II: STEM + Arts in the DMV / July 24 - 29, 2022
Summer III:  Culture thru the Arts / August 1 - 5, 2022

Time:
8:30 am - 4:30pm /Some days we start out early to get to our amazing destinations.

Groups Are Separated by Age & Only 10 Youth Accepted Per Group. Ages Accepted:
8 - 10, 11-12+, Junior Culture Coordinator/14 -16 and Up

Location for Drop Off & Pick Up:

We travel by charter bus or local metro transportation daily.

Summer I: Discover & Share DC Culture / June 27- July 1 , 2022
Youth are invited to join one of DC's most interactive, informative, adventurous fun filled programs that is all about discovery! We are constantly on the move exploring the many cultures of DC through art, music, food, self-care and other cultural aspects. Daily field trips are a great way to learn and explore!

As we explore the uniqueness and similarities of various cultures, youth will document their journey through artistic presentations using various forms of art, the camera lens, and journaling, to produce an epic social media story to share.

Our city is amazing, and we will share our escapades with youth around the globe!


Summer II: STEM + Arts in the DMV / July 25 - 29, 2022
From nearby caves in Virginia, to a chef's kitchen in the Nation's Capital, and unique presentation of technology and engineering, youth will discover local anomalies as they dive into the practice of STEM and Arts. 

DC, Maryland and Virginia become our discovery zone as we explore national parks, waterways, technology and local change makers in the field of sustainability. This program is punctuated with cultural exploration through the arts.

S.T.E.M. +Art bring fresh ideas to exploration. Each day we travel to a different part of the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

We keep it moving all week long!

Summer III:  Culture thru the Arts & History / August 1 - 5, 2022
Designed to introduce youth to the various cultures from the Maryland Eastern Shore to the clear waters of West Virginia’s Potomac River and in between.

Youth are exposed to various cultures through music, dance, food, and art with historians and resident artists from various towns as we travel throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Day trip!

Similarities and differences of the various cultures will be celebrated daily!

Let's get ready for a dynamic hands on, interactive and engaging experience! 


Cost of Programs
Our program includes morning meet-ups and breakfast to prepare for the day, daily transportation, lunch, entry fees, program and activity supplies, and subject matter experts.

Inclusive Cost Per Youth:
$375 Non DC Residents
$150 Partial Scholarships - All DC Residents
$25 Full Scholarships - Application Required
