I'm one of several reporters working with
Romper about
how to foster kids' independence, and I'm looking for parents to interview. Essentially I'd like to hear about something you let your kid do on their own, even if it felt a little nerve-wracking at first (whether because it was messy or risky or just otherwise stressful!), and any reflections on how it has played out, ways in which it has paid off, etc.
The focus is more on your experience and what you've observed in your child as a result rather than on super-specific advice on how to enable your kid to do a specific thing (although if you'd like to include specific tips, that's great, too). The goal is to offer inspiration and solidarity to parents hoping to foster independence: i.e, how do you let go? How do you trust that your kid is capable of more than you might know? etc.
