HSI El Paso offers Pre-AP/Honors courses (limited space available) in Mathematics and English Language Arts to qualifying students starting in 6th grade. 7th and 8th grade students will have the continued opportunity to take Pre-AP/Honors classes when the criteria has been met for each school year. Students that qualify for Pre-AP/Honors courses and are then placed in Pre-AP/Honors, must consider that these classes will be conducted at an accelerated pace with a more rigorous workload and higher expectations. Enrollment into Pre-AP/Honors courses may not be approved when any of the criteria has not been met.
*CRITERIA MUST BE MET IN MATH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS FOR PLACEMENT
Enrollment into Pre-AP/Honors courses may be based on but is not limited to the following criteria:

1. Any student interested in Pre-AP/Honors courses must first register by April 22nd in order to be considered for placement.
2. Criteria for Pre-AP/Honors placement -Complete Registration Form -teacher recommendation -Practice STAAR, STAAR, NWEA MAP Scores -Grades in all classes -GT status -Advanced Placement Committee endorsement
3. Placement decisions will be available when scheduling is finalized before the first day of school

**Please note that students who were previously enrolled in Pre-AP/Honors classes are subject to the criteria in order to be placed into Pre-AP classes for the Following Year
