Ladies on the Case: Trailblazing female cops and detectives, from Medieval times though the 1900s

Women have a long important history in law enforcement and police reform. Take a trip to old Los Angeles and meet the women who inspired lady cops world-wide and changed law enforcement forever, including: Lucy Gray, mother of nine and the LAPD's first police matron (1888),  Fanny Bixby, young, beautiful cop, socialite, and daughter of one of the richest men in California (1908); and Georgia Ann Robinson, activist, homicide detective, and first female African American cop (1919). These women were the inspiration for the award-winning Anna Blanc Mystery series, set among the women of the LAPD in 1900s Los Angeles.
