Charipay: Project Valor
Lead: Kyler Gilbert

What it is:

Charipay, started by three current UCLA students, is a convenience-focused donation platform that connects users to causes and charities. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, Charipay has decided to create a new venture solely designed on providing much needed medical equipment to hospitals in need. Charipay is currently in conversations with medical manufacturers in China to purchase these supplies. We are working on building a quick web/mobile version of our platform, dedicated to COVID-19 relief. We also need to communicate with hospitals to figure out what exactly they need and how much they need. Additionally, we need to reach out to businesses, and individuals across the country to see if they would be willing to participate in our campaign to help purchase this equipment. Our goal is to move as fast as possible to get the web and mobile version of the site up and running.

Who we're looking for:

- Coders, both front and back end. The site will be simple but coders should have experience coding, particularly JavaScript and React/CSS if possible.
- UI/UX both for design of our site and design of marketing and ad campaigns. People interested in this position should be comfortable in Figma and comfortable creating marketing graphics
- Marketing and Business Development. People interested in these positions should be comfortable cold calling and emailing (script will be provided) hospitals, businesses, and individuals as well as initiating social media and various ad campaigns.

Gwaja Fight
Leads: Jeanie Kwon & Joyce Kang

What it is:

Gwaja Fight ("Gwaja" meaning "chips" in Korean) centers around the experience many siblings have of fighting over food. The game starts as a mom brings home a bag of snacks, and the objective is to grab as many snacks as you can while the mom isn't looking while also attempting to steal some from your siblings. The game will also adopt Asian visual elements, such as favorite childhood Asian snacks or candies. This is a beginner-level, game development project where we invite anyone who's ever been interested in learning about the stages of game dev. but have never had the time to pursue a hands-on project. We ourselves are also beginners to game development, so we're extremely excited to figure this out with you.

Who we're looking for:

- 1-2 artist/animator with advanced experience with digital art or animation
- 1-2 programmers with advanced experience in C# and Unity

We'd like to heavily stress that we invite anyone of any skill level, especially beginners.

Spotify.random
Leads: Rasha Rahman & Carolyn Vo

What it is:

Many of us are constantly browsing through Spotify's radio or discover weekly to find new music. However, with about 40,000 songs being uploaded a day (that's 280,000 songs a week!), it makes it difficult for us to discover the song of our ~dreams~. With Spotify.random, we're aiming to create an app that will generate songs after the user inputs specific settings of how they like a song.

Who we're looking for:

- 2 UI/UX designers
- 2 developers

The Good Fridge
Lead: Wendy Li

What it is:

The Good Fridge is a mobile application that guide users to make ethical decisions in their grocery purchases and food consumption. The application helps users determine personalized monthly goals based on ethical issues important to them (ie. Environment, animal rights, human rights). Before users visit the grocery markets, users can upload their grocery lists and receive suggestions on the best products to purchase nearby. After the users buy groceries, users can upload their receipts and receive a breakdown of their progress towards their ethical goals.

The Good Fridge Project is a response to the growing demographic of young, socially-conscious consumers who care about the impact of their food consumption, but are inundated with information overload. It takes way too much time to find out the answer to each consumption choice— which brand of coffee imports beans that are grown by farmers who are paid fairly, which type of milk uses the least amount of water. This app will solve these ethical dilemmas by recommending products that aligns with the user's personal goals and values.

Who we're looking for:

- 2 front-end/back-end developers
- 2 UI/UX designers
- 1 data analyst
