McDowell County Schools will be hosting summer school for any elementary student.  Summer school will be in operation from June 14- July 26.  It will not be in session on Monday, July 5th.  Summer school will operate Monday-Friday each week 8:30-4:00.  Academic learning time will be from 8:30-12:30.  Lunch and enrichment activities will be held from 12:30-4:00.  Parents have an option to pick students up at 12:30.  Enrichment will be a super fun time where students will have an opportunity to try all kinds of new activities.  A student must attend the morning academic session to be eligible for the afternoon enrichment session.  Summer school will be housed at one location in the county for all elementary students with transportation provided. Summer school is at no cost to families. Breakfast and lunch will be provided as well. While regular attendance at summer school is encouraged, we understand that vacations have already been planned. We will be understanding of absences due to vacations. We are currently in the planning stages and are asking all elementary families to fill out this survey.
