2025-2026 Re/Generation Application

Re/Generation Program Description

Now in its seventh year, Call To Action's Re/Generation Program calls young leaders animated by liberatory, life-giving faith to reckon with the injustices of the Catholic institution and incarnate new ways of being Church.

Our 2025-2026 Re/Generation Program will convene a cohort of 15 to 20 "Re/Generators" and pair them with an elder in the movement and a Re/Generation alumnus to form a Mentoring Triad. Re/Generators will discern how their Catholic faith moves them to work for justice, healing, and transformation through two retreats and monthly meetings with their cohort and Mentoring Triads. This year's cohort will receive support and mentorship in developing one of the following:

  • facilitate an event or organize a direct action in your parish, community, or college campus, OR
  • produce a creative advocacy project, such as an editorial or article, or a digital media package (graphics or a short video)

The 2025-2026 cohort is limited to 15-20 participants.

Successful applicants will demonstrate a passion for social justice and a willingness to approach their projects with an intersectional Catholic lens. We welcome project ideas related to Call To Action's mission of supporting ordination justice, LGBTQ+ and gender equality, and anti-racist initiatives. For this year's cohort, we are particularly interested in projects related to Inclusivity within the Church; Indigenous / anti-colonial organizing and reconciliation; Immigration and refugee initiatives; and Antiwar and peace initiatives. We also welcome bilingual projects or projects that uplift Latino/a, Black Catholic, and Asian-American Catholic communities.

We acknowledge that Re/Generators are often at the crossroads with their relationship with Catholicism. Are you Catholic-ish? Catholic-adjacent? Post-Catholic? Have you thought about leaving the Church but have chosen to stay? Did you leave? We want your voice and wisdom.

During the 2025-2026 program, Re/Generators will:

  • Attend the Opening Retreat in June 5th - 8th 2025 and the Closing Retreat in March 2026 (CTA will provide lodging, transportation, and food for both retreats)
  • Develop, organize, and host an event or direct action in your local parish, campus, or community
  • Develop their media and writing skills and produce at least one editorial or a digital media package (social media graphics or a short video)
  • Receive ongoing mentorship from 1 or 2 dedicated CTA members: a Re/Generation alum and an "elder" from the church-reform movement
  • Convene monthly on Zoom as a cohort or with their Mentoring Triad
  • Connect with an inspiring, supportive community of younger adults as part of the 2025-2026 Re/Generation Cohort

Selected participants must:

  • Be between ages 20 and 39
  • Have a passion for social justice and the Catholic faith
  • Be committed to LGBTQ+ and gender equality, anti-racist and anti-oppression principles.
  • Be creative, passionate, and appreciate humor.
  • Be able to commit to this nine-month program and participate fully in the opening and closing retreats, monthly check-ins, and project development.
  • Be able to complete their project or event within this nine-month time frame.
