St. John's Farmers' Market Cooperative - Application for Cooperative Membership

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MEMBER?

The St. John's Farmers' Market is a Non-Profit Cooperative - a group of members who work together for the benefit of the SJFM and all it stands for.

Our mission is to enhance our community by fostering opportunities for local farmers, artisans, chefs, and bakers as well as to serve as an active community hub of learning and connection. We champion diversity, local sustainability, and environmental awareness, and believe that as a community, we can work collectively to build each other up. The SJFM is more than just a market space, it is a community space that celebrates the diverse richness that St. John’s has come to embody. It is a place of opportunity and discovery.

ABOUT SJFM COOPERATIVE MEMBERSHIP

The SJFM has two categories of membership:
  • Vendor Members: Individuals or businesses who sell their products at the SJFM Saturday Market.
  • Consumer Members: Individuals who are interested in the great work we do in the community and want to support the SJFM by getting involved.
Our Board of Directors is made up of six vendor members, and six consumer members. We want to make sure that everyone has representation in the guiding of our organization.

Cooperative members are able to run for a seat on the Board, or can get involved in a variety of ways through our committees or through other types of volunteering.

In becoming a cooperative member, what you are actually doing is purchasing a single share in the SJFM Co-Op. This one-time-only share purchase is $50. If you ever decide to leave the Co-op, we will purchase your share back from you.

Please note that membership is only effective upon receipt of the payment for your share purchase and approval of your membership by the Cooperative’s Board of Directors (normally at the next meeting after your application arrives).

COOPERATIVE MEMBERSHIP IS NOT THE SAME AS A VENDOR APPLICATION

***This form is not an application to sell products at the Saturday Market***
A SJFM Co-op membership application is NOT the same as a vendor application.

If you are a vendor who has applied for the Saturday Market, please read:
If you are approved to be a vendor at the SJFM Saturday market, you will also be required to become a Cooperative member. However, becoming a cooperative member does not guarantee that you will be approved as a vendor. They are two separate things. If you're not sure about this, please get in touch with us at info@sjfm.ca.
