The NYC Coalition for Educational Justice (CEJ) built Liberation School to be a place for parents of color to build community and learn together through the hardship of COVID-19. A key part of CEJ’s work, and the work of Liberation Schools, has been fighting for a more diverse, inclusive and justice-centered education system. We are building a community of parents who are interested in becoming leaders in their schools, neighborhoods, and communities - growing educational environments where students are seen, honored, included, and respected.

Liberation School is building a new parent team called Liberation Revolutionaries that will spend the next nine months learning together, building knowledge and power together around education justice. We hope that in our time together we are building relationships throughout the city with other parents, growing in how to lead a good meeting, learning about what parent organizing is and why it is important, and connecting racial justice and education. This community will be in practice together for nine months, July to April, twice a month. You will also have individual and small group coaching sessions.

Culturally Responsive Education centers students’ identities, including the cultural, racial, historical, languages of students to reflect the greatness of who they and their people are. It also allows them to see into a world that allows students to connect across cultures.

La Coalición por la Justicia Educativa de Nueva York (CEJ) construyó la Escuela de Liberación para que fuera un lugar donde los padres de color pudieran construir una comunidad y aprender juntos a través de las dificultades de la COVID-19. Una parte clave del trabajo de CEJ, y del trabajo de las Escuelas de Liberación, ha sido luchar por un sistema educativo más diverso, inclusivo y centrado en la justicia. Estamos construyendo una comunidad de padres que están interesados en convertirse en líderes en sus escuelas, barrios y comunidades - creciendo ambientes educativos donde los estudiantes son vistos, honrados, incluidos y respetados.

La Escuela de la Liberación está creando un nuevo equipo de padres llamado Revolucionarios de la Liberación que pasará los próximos nueve meses aprendiendo juntos, construyendo conocimiento y poder juntos en torno a la justicia educativa. Esperamos que en nuestro tiempo juntos estemos construyendo relaciones en toda la ciudad con otros padres, creciendo en cómo dirigir una buena reunión, aprendiendo sobre lo que es la organización de los padres y por qué es importante, y conectando la justicia racial y la educación. Esta comunidad practicará junta durante nueve meses, de julio a abril, dos veces al mes. También tendrá sesiones de coaching individual y en pequeños grupos.

La Educación Culturalmente Responsable centra las identidades de los estudiantes, incluyendo las culturales, raciales, históricas, los idiomas de los estudiantes para reflejar la grandeza de lo que ellos y su gente son. También les permite ver en un mundo que permite a los estudiantes conectarse a través de las culturas.
