Issue Committees

Issue Committees are back at City Club! These informal groups of City Club members come together because they share a common interest. From large speeches to intimate gatherings, expert panel discussions, site tours, and social events like food and wine tastings, art, and music, issue committees generate a range of activities.

Based on interests identified from a recent member survey, we’re starting with the following groups: The Built Environment, Health & Public Safety, Education & The Arts.

Explore detailed descriptions here.

Issue committee membership is informal. You do not need to commit to attend a specific number of meetings or lead certain activities. It is also open to non-members, so feel free to invite someone along who is curious to know what City Club is all about before becoming a member.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee serves as the steward of the member experience, composed of individuals who are passionate about growing and connecting our community. We invite those who enjoy talking with people, have an understanding and appreciation of City Club's work and mission, and creative ideas about the value of membership to join our efforts. Help us connect with potential members through phone calls, outreach initiatives, and member engagement activities. If you like talking with people about City Club and have time and ideas about what membership means and can be, we hope to hear from you.

Programming Committee

The Programming Committee plans to produce 1-2 events monthly, excluding July and August, with a mixture of in-person, hybrid, and virtual formats.

They seek members who are interested in originating, discussing, and producing events and serving as resource/collaborators for other committee producers. Responsibilities include identifying speakers, moderators, and sponsors, drafting topic outlines and run of show documentation, and supporting marketing and communications.

Interested members must be available to meet twice a month, virtually or in-person.

Research Study Committees

The Research Board is now recruiting dedicated members to join ballot measure study committees, for research to be conducted in late spring and early summer 2024. Ballot measure studies typically take 4 months.

Comprehensive studies involve 8–12 months of focused interviews, independent research, weekly discussions, and continual critical analysis. We plan to launch a comprehensive study later this year.

Serving on a research committee is a significant commitment, but the rewards are equally significant, including opportunities to gain a deep understanding of complex issues, interact with key stakeholders and decision-makers, and actively influence public policy.
