BCLC Volunteers
The distinction between involvement and engagement is important: a definition of involve is “to enfold or envelope;” conversely, engage can be defined as “to come together and interlock.” Thus involvement implies doing to, whereas engagement implies doing with.

By creating a BCLC Parent Volunteer Program with our clients, the company will have Cultural Competence: the ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures, encompass being aware of one’s own worldview, and develop positive attitudes towards cultural differences.

As per PDIS Training, the importance of family engagement is central in promoting children’s healthy development and wellness, including: social-emotional and behavioral development; preparing children for school; and seamlessly transitioning them to kindergarten.

Examples of effective communication with clients include:
Listening
Nonverbal Communication
Clarity and Concision
Friendliness
Confidence
Empathy
Open-Mindedness
Respect
