All 5th grade band students are practicing solos during January and February.  We are tackling this long-term project and thinking Begin with the End in Mind - by setting smaller goals on their practice chart to practice at home.  Your child will have the opportunity to perform for family and friends at Solo Festival held at Norwalk Middle School on Sat, March 7 (same Solo Festival for band students in 6th - 8th grade).

This is NOT a competition, all students will receive a certificate for participating and helpful feedback from another band teacher. Each student will have a five-minute performance slot between 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Students only need to stay for their performance time (NOT the whole day), but can stay and listen to other performers. All solos have a piano accompaniment that either myself or other accompanist, if you have a family member or friend that would like to accompany them instead, please indicate on the form below.

Participation at the Solo Festival is highly recommended, but not required.  Students choosing not to perform that day will continue to work on their solo to learn new notes, rhythms and music concepts.  A video recording of their solo will be e-mailed to parents/guardians.
